NEW ATTACK SIMULATION
Explore a new live-fire blue team simulation environment, designed to
test SOC analysts, digital
forensics investigators, and incident
responders in realistic
cyber defense scenarios.
A cyber attack is executed in a sandbox environment. All relevant event data
are recorded and loaded into the SIEM for the players to investigate.
The team’s task is
to detect and respond to it after the fact. Scenarios vary in complexity and type:
SOC analysts are presented with a queue of security alerts in the SIEM. Analysts must provide a
rationale for their decision and, if it’s a real threat, escalate the case to
the DFIR team for deeper investigation.
Efficiently identifying the right threats (and not missing any) is key to
success in this mode.
All escalated alerts are passed to the DFIR team for in-depth analysis. The forensics team’s job is to
collect and analyze forensic artifacts (memory dumps, registry hives, log files,
or packet captures).
Essentially, the DF team pieces together the technical story of the breach on
each host, answering the “who, what, how” of the incident.
The exercise concludes once the full scope of the attack has unfolded and the blue team has contained
the threat. The team must collaboratively reconstruct the entire attack
kill-chain and produce a final forensic report with recommended mitigations or
security improvements.
The post-game review helps pinpoint gaps in detection or analysis. The scenario
is won when the team successfully uncovers the full attack sequence and handles
all malicious activity!
I feel that it’s [the platform] been instrumental in me getting job offers. During interviews they ask if you’re doing anything outside of school or if you have projects to showcase, and it’s the perfect opportunity for me to bring up that I do HTB and show them my write ups and walkthroughs.
Providing teams with training and upskilling opportunities is crucial for any organization to stay current with best practices in all aspects of security, privacy, and awareness. From a compliance and risk management perspective, regular training can ensure that Autodesk teams are aware of various security requirements and best practices, strengthening company security practices.
